Need Mauser Help

is there some trick to removing the barrel from a TURKISH 1903 mauser action?

I've removed several from k98's and brazilian mausers with little or no trouble, but this one is bi**h.
any suggestions????any help would be appreciated.

Tight ain't they? I soak it down with Kroil for a day or so If that doesn't do the trick,then the 6' pipe on the action wrench usually does it. Many times the barrel slips in the vise so a flat or two gets ground on the barrel of it's not "a keeper" If it is try a propane torch to warm it up. I haven't had one yet stand up to 245 pounds on the end of that pipe and not say uncle. If it did hold up to that abuse something would probably be damaged beyond repair, quite possible me.

I've seen a pipe wrench pressed into action here. Again ... this is only for the ones that aren't keepers. Isn't that all of them, though? Why would someone remove an 8mm Turk barrel if it weren't to put the action to some new use?

The Kroil will work on these 95% of the time. Heat might help but normally if the Kroil doesn't work I chuck them in the lathe and plunge a tool in just in front of the receiver, taking off the recess at the same time, to a depth that would measure .875" diameter. Then they usually come out by hand. If you want to save the recess you can cut the barrel off and bore it out to the minimum thread diameter, then pick the remaining barrel threads out of the receiver threads. George

used kroil and the pipe. It worked but I smashed my hand when the begger let loose!!!
