My odd ball RPD carbine build
I need to get rid of the rear sight and fab a rail in there for a QD scope & flip up peep. It wears a 16" SS finned .308 bore barrel for a future reloading of match ammo. At 21 lbs with 75 rds in the bag, it doesent kick much

I like "it", but I'm not exactly sure what "it" is.

I like the RPD, but the short barrel must make it have a awfully loud muzzle report; especially for somebody sitting next to you --- That gun is a double-up on ear protection...for sure!!!

A 16" barrel can certainly do what your saying...but, if you look close at the selected muzzle break, you will see its a Low Concussion break. They actualy work quite well with this power level of the x39.
The fabrication mods consist of A SAW M249 hinged butt plate and permanently modified for M249 belt bags & boxes. The FCG uses a HK G3 grip housing on AR15 cross pins with a HK91 FCG inside it. The conventional hammer fired bolt uses a Browning Gold 10g bolt link to allow the HK hammer to function properly in its semi auto roll. The heavily modified forward hand guard is from a Israeli Heavy barrel FAL. The QD Bi pod legs are from a M2 bipod originally designed for the M14. The fold down carry handle is off a heavy barrel FAL battle rifle. There are a couple SKS parts in there also. There are Soooo many good parts out there, why not mix & match for that one of a kind table hammer? |

Interesting design. Now that Franklin Armory is coming out with a binary trigger for the HK trigger packs, I think that would really complete the build!
Who did the work?

I checked out the binary and its a bit pricy at $629. I do all my own work. Been playing with guns since my first HS metal shop project in 75. Then PA gunsmith school 79-81, then A.O. West Hurley NY shop gunsmith & put the A.O. 1911A1 line together for George Numrich in 82. Then a full service shop for 14 years. Retired now
