6mm ARC vs 6.5 Grendel for deer hunting
The Savage Avis II is now being offered in 6mm ARC, if you can find it. I'm wondering how this compares the the 6.5 Grendel in deer hunting situations.
The 6 ARC would be using 85gr TSXs. The 6.5G using 100gr TTSXs. Max hunting distance in PA for me is 150yds. But 9 of 10 times our shots are 65-80 yds. The 350 Legend is a third consideration. Close shooting and large bullet diameter interest me. But I already have a .35 Remington for that stuff. Last edited by Andy1; March 19, 2021 at 07:57 PM. |

Personal opinion, but I'd take the 6.5 Grendel over the other 2.
There was no 6mm ARC when I bought a 6.5 Grendel, but it's the bees knees.

Personally, based on the data I have seen. It's marginally better than 223 which while workable, is significantly less than ideal. The 6.5 Grendel would be my choice.
