7.62x54r load data

Im looking to load some 174g hpbt sierra matchkings for my mosin nagant 7.62x54r and need some load data. I have imr 4227, 4198, 3031 and 4350. Could someone please help me out with data for any of this powders. My hornady manual doesn't list any of them

Best I can come up with in my Lyman manual is a 180gr JSP.

4350 47.5-52.0max.

Check for yourself though, I'm just flipping through my manual.

If it is the longer barreled 91/30 model the 4350 powder will be best. You would be fine using the 180 gr. load data posted here as I cross checked it against my Lyman manual where they used IMR4350. Doubt you will find any specific load data for match rated bullets for the old Russian. It may have been an old sniper rifle but somehow it never quite reached match accuracy status therefore match bullets are seldom used in these fine old shooters.

I only have imr powders. Do you have a overall length listed for that load for 180g?

My hornady book gives a length of 2.855" but everything i have thats already loaded and commercial ammo is over 3"

Your published coal for the Russian is such as to insure that the cartridges are short enough to fit down into the magazines of "ALL" the variants made in that calibre to include even the semi auto Druganov Tiger. If your rounds fit well into the magazine, the bullets are seated deep enough that at least half of the case neck is full of bullet and your bullets allow you to close the bolt easily without setting your bullets any deeper into the case and feed smoothly cycling a full magazine then you should be good to go. if your accuracy is a bit off you can try setting the bullets deeper into the cases in say .010 incriments to alter bullet jump to the rifling lands and see if that helps. Hopefully your loads are not max loads as this can increase chamber pressure slightly.

no i don't ever load to max loads. By going by the specs in the hornady manual, it puts the base of the bullet well below the neck of the case which seems to low to me. I think ill re-do it and put it out the length of the rest of my 7.62x54 ammo or at least close to it. 2.855" just seems to low.
Would the pressure of the case get higher if the bullet was seated higher or lower?
