Picked up a sub 2000 2nd generation
Walked into my local gun shop at lunch today and there was one on display. I wasn't planning on buying anything, but I have been in the market for a sub 2000 for a few years now. The gun was brand new. The guy in front of me was eyeballing it and when my turn came I told the clerk I would buy it.
It was very reasonably priced and was the gen 2 version that took Glock 17 magazines. It came with a gl7 magazine, not a Glock factory magazine. I wasn't aware of the new changes to the gen 2 but am happy with them. It has rails, ar15 style metal front sight post and a threaded 1/2-28 barrel with a thread protector. For those that have a sub 2000, what case do you have? I'm thinking I'll put it in a discreet case with my Glock 17 and some standard and 33 round factory mags that I have. I'm going to the range this afternoon to try it out. |

Congrats on the new addition, I also have been keeping my eye out for a sub 2000 but am looking for the S&W 59 series mag models. I haven't put hands on a new model but hope to some day. Let us know how it shoots.

Sub-2000, it's a cool little gun. I picked up two of the Glock variants, learned what I needed to learn shooting one while the other stayed in the box. I sold the test mule, and I'll soon be tweaking the other one the way I want it with MCARBO springs, Performance trigger, and a heavy bolt, etc...
I'm using an old lockable hard shell Samsonite briefcase to carry mine, it's made of brown plastic. It holds the S2K, and many happy sticks.

Awesome guns, they just rock. Yours should be reliable and accurate. A great close-medium range defensive carbine.

That reminds me of the Marlin camp carbine that took Sw 59 series magazines. Those were solid rifles apparently. I wonder if they'll make a version that accepts 59 series mags. I think the ones now are for m&p pistols, but correct me if I'm wrong.
Yeah, I'm thinking of a small but durable briefcase. Do you have pictures of your case? Oh and funny thing, I overheard one of the Gunshop guys wanting to modify their sub2000 to shoot 10mm. I didn't say anything, but wow. The action is direct blowback. Even if someone put a 10mm barrel on it, that would be catastrophic. They'd get a face full of what's left of their keltec. |

I thought about these for awhile, but I had a Camp Carbine 9 and didn't really appreciate it so I sold it. Shooting pistol cartridges out of rifles doesn't really appeal to me....except maybe for 45LC.

9mm from a carbine barrel does not add a whole bunch of velocity, but the ability to shoulder the weapon and use a nice RDS to aim it makes it an excellent 100 yard blaster. A 10mm S2K will never happen - it would need to be a completely different gun.

The pistol cartridges that benefit the most from a longer barrel (.327, .357, .44mag) don't often come in a SA carbine. The percent increase between 9mm and 10mm is almost the same.
The 2K is a neat little shooter. I think they are over priced but I am pretty cheap. |

I'll add that if the S2K didn't utilize Glock mags, I wouldn't have picked one up. The cost of the weapon is one thing, but having to spend big bucks of proprietary mags would be a deal killer.

Nice set up sr420, I like the retro look. I was wondering about how to handle a mounted holographic optic. I take it your xps-series eotech is 100% cowitness?
I just got back from the range. It was shooting about 8" low at 25 yards. I didn't have a hex key to adjust for elevation unfortunately. It was still fun to shoot. As expected, I could feel the recoil from having a 2 pound bolt coming right back into my shoulder. It wasn't painful or unpleasant, but you could definitely feel the recoil impulse. |

I find the factory sights are too low, I have to crush my face down to get a decent sight picture. They're OK for emergency use but not so good for general purpose use. The EOTech on the factory 7mm riser positions the reticle above the factory iron sights, and I find it much easier to shoot fast & accurate.
I don't feel any recoil either, but I use a recoil pad on mine to increase the LOP, and keep the sharpish edges of the butt stock from biting my skin... it can leave marks through a T-shirt.
