617 Ready For Steel Challenge

I decided to take my C-More off my 617 and shoot it for the next few weeks in RFPI (Rimfire Pistol Iron) category for Steel Challenge.

Today I fired 300 rounds of Federal BYOB and Remington Golden bullets and only had 2 Failure To Fires so I'm pretty happy. I have a new mainspring on order and that will take care of the FTFs.

I shoot better with my revolvers that I do with my Autos so I'm hoping to get into a higher class. This is a small, only 5 stage match, but if I do well I'll shoot the full SC Match next weekend.

I love my 617, I have the 4" barrel. I shoot about a 100 or 200 rounds before I shoot my 686. I do all my revolver shooting in double action to get better. Right now I have shotgun patterns but they are getting smaller.

Love the grips on those, if you don't mind my asking where did you get them. I am a left hand shooter and was wondering if they are ambidextrous and if they a thumb rest on the other side that wold interfere with my shooting. Good luck on your match.

These grips are from HOGUE.COM. They are available in left handed as well with the thumb rest.

Yes, Hogue makes the grips. They also make them in rubber.

Another great option are the DS-10 Speed Loaders. They really help when loading up for Steel Challenge Matches.

Curious as to what makes you think it's the mainspring? ( Hammer spring)
