I do with Berry's bullets. Never a problem so far but I haven't tried max loads.

When in doubt, ask the folks that make 'em.

Not all plated bullets are made to the same standard. The safe answer is no - you use lead data for plated bullets.

Use Cast bullet data only. Also, watch the amount of crimp. The coating is easy to break through.

If you use lead bullet data, that means velocity is not as high as jacketed slugs.

Rainier recommends using lead data, Berrys recommends jacketed. It doesn't really matter because 45acp isn't going to go above the velocity window recommended by either maker. Generally you want to stay below 1200 FPS, no problem for 45acp. A slight taper crimp is all you need for the cartridge anyway and you aren't going to crack the plating doing that.

For 45 they recommend not exceeding 850 to 900 FPS not 1200.

Do you mean they don't recommend not exceeding 850-900?

Straight from Berrys website...

FAQ: How fast can I shoot these bullets?

Velocities depend on the caliber, but as a rule of thumb, we recommend you don't shoot our plated bullets over 1250 feet-per-second. Our 44's actually shoot best around 1150 fps. 45's are generally good at 850-900 fps. Our bullets are not recommended for magnum velocities over 1250fps unless the bullet description denotes a thick plated bullet with a higher listed maximum for velocity.

http://www.berrysmfg.com/faq-q10-c1-...e_bullets.aspx

The recommendation is that you shoot their .452 bullets at 850-900fps not that if you exceed it you will have problems.
