Newbie BP Questions

Have an interest in Civl War reenacting.
Just starting to gear up, which as we all know, is not a cheap undertaking.
However, I have recently come across a BP revolver (reproduction) short barrel (Sheriff model) .44 Caliber?
The gun looks like it is new out of the box. NO marks or scratches.
Having read thru the various threads, I can see a mark that reads (AD)
If i am correct this mark would give it a Mfg. date of 1978??
The listed price for this item is $138.99.

I think this is a good ideal in the making, what say you all??
