I'm interested in starting to reload shotshells and possibly progressing on to handgun ammo later. Are there any manuals which give loads in grams? I assume there are but are they readily available in the US?

I don't know of any, but you can convert values to whatever units you want to use. 1 gram = 15.432 grains.

What would be the value of a metric load manual? It seems better to use a separate system of measurements for reloading. You only need to compare load info to other load info, which is also in grains. (Handgun, not shotgun reloading.)
Which is easier to remember... 7.2 grains or .467 grams? I'm not trying to bash the metric system, it just seems to me that the grain is a very appropriate measurement for the purpose. |

Possesion of a gram scale as opposed to purchase of a grains scale was the reason I asked.

Sloslo,
The scale will be the least of your concerns. They're cheap, so I advise to just get one. I too have a gram (and grain)scale, but the other junk associated with reloading was what really hurt my pocket book. The scale was cheap, and frequently you find good deals at garage sales on the stuff. |
