Will we ever see a Glock .45ACP Compact?
It seems like the one big hole in their lineup... The G38 looks to be a great platform, but GAP ammo aparently is hard to come by...
Just thought I'd ask... |

Gawd, I hope not. If they did, I might have to buy a Glock, and then Mrs. McGee would likely shoot me with it! [/jk]
In all seriousness, though, I do keep hoping that I'll see something in that slot.

I think he means the G19 size, because the G30 is listed as a "subcompact" on the Glock website.
Edited to add: And I know that I meant the G19 size.

Here are the dimensions: glock 29 or 30 length:172 mm height: 113 (including magazine)-4.45 inches Glock 19 or 23 length: 174 mm height: 127 mm-5 inches 1/2 inch less in height and 2 mm shorter By comparison, the subcompact small frames are: length: 160 mm height: 106 or 4.17 inch quite a difference. So the .45 subcompact is really a compact, and no you will not see a real subcompact in .45, and if you mean as in a smaller thin frame, then the 36 is your answer as it is like the 30 and 29. length: 172 mm height: 121 mm or 4.76" as compared to the glock 19 of 5 inches That is 2mm shorter and 1/4 inch less in height than a 19....pretty darn close.

The Glock-36 is about as small a 45 acp as anyone needs. A single stack, officer's size grip with a four in barrel.
I don't think there is a market for anything smaller in a 45 platform.

A compact Glock in 45 ACP would be GREAT. It would be on my list for sure!

Bigger, not smaller...

As HighValleyRanch pointed out though, the G30 is similar in size to the G38, so it may be almost a a moot point. The G30 is wider than the G38, but for someone like me with big hands, thats a good thing. When looking at your three .45 options you see that: The G38 .45GAP (which I started the post refering to) is 174mm x 127mm x 30mm, which is almost the same size as, The G30 .45ACP, which is 172mm x 121mm x 32mm (a bit shorter and wider... Its called a subcompact by Glock instead of a compact, which is why I didnt look at it in detail). The G36 .45ACP is 172mm x 121mm x 28.5mm which is a true subcompact. My worry, which I will have to go to the gun shop to check, is that the 6mm (1/4 inch) difference in grip+mag will make it a bit more difficult to control accurately for my affore-mentioned large hands. |

@ blincoln, I have the G36 and I bet you would find it easy to control, hand size would not be that big of issue.

If you have big hands, then you maybe should be considering the glock 30, since you can add on different grip lengths to adjust for your shooting style and carry.
With the regular base it will be a 2 finger hold, which some people actually prefer, because the little finger help support from below. With the Pearce finger extension (no capacity) you gain added little for a tight three finger hold. Using a glock 21 mag, with an A&G sleeve, you could have a total grip for big hands, and the shorter barrel for CCW. Extra capacity in the 30, and the ability to use the full size hi cap mags. That is the ticket!

Maybe they make the 38 just so theres a reason to have .45 GAP.
If youre hell bent on it, the 38 might be your only ticket. GAP is ok... |

size alone sold me on the Glock 39, its the smallest .45 Glock makes. 6+1 of .45GAP is plenty for me.

I'd rather have a Glock 29 in 10mm and get two more bullets capacity

Gen4 29 + a 10mm to 9 barrel will be my next Glock. Sometime next year I suppose.

You can do a 29 (10mm) to .40 conversion, but not 9mm. The reason is that there are no aftermarket 9mm magazines that will fit into a 29 wide frame. You get the .40 conversion by using the original 10mm mag.

I am sure one day Glock will turn out a 23 size 45. It may be slightly larger due to caliber but something similar will more than likely come at some point. The 30 is a sub, only slightly larger than the 26/27 because of the caliber.
