I never trim pistol cases. If I find a bad one I just toss it. I've tossed more cases for other problems than for case length.

Kuhio: Pretty much the consensus is "not to worry". I fall into the "I've never....."school of thought and practice. That goes for all the pistol rounds for which I load (from 25 ACP up to .500 S&W Mag.)
OAL has been explained. Effect of crimp has been explained. Effect of seating depth on pressure has been mentioned. About accuracy - a question: Quote:

A variance of +/-.002" is fine (great, actually).
There are very few circumstances where 9x19 case trimming might make sense. Handloading requires defined goals; recommend, in this order: 1) reliable function 2) controllable accuracy 3) economy 4) ease of manufacturing 5) other stuff....
