Help Identifying Model 98 manufacturer
I have this rifle marked "Model 98" but I can't seem to find who manufactured it.

The manufacturer's marking is under the front scope mount base. If it has not been removed, you will have to remove the base to see it.

It's definitely a Mauser K98 as determined by the "Mod.98", the "42" year code (1942) and the "Waffenamt" stamped on the receiver. However, like James K posted, you will have to remove the front scope mount base in order to see the manufacturers code.

And what will you know then?
All that remains of the German surplus is the action, the barrel, stock, and scope were installed by the sporterizing shop. |
