Walther PP

I recently picked up this little beauty- 1971 West German produced Walther PP in .32 ACP. I've always kind of wanted one, but there was always something else that caught my eye while out gun shopping, until now.

It has a little bit of holster wear and a couple small blemishes on the right side, but for the most part, retains the high polish, deep blue finish.

It came with a lanyard loop mainspring plug which I replaced. It also came with a no name crappy aftermarket magazine.

I took it to the range and it shot quite accurately, but had a few failures to feed. I noticed that it was easy to pull rounds out of the magazine over the feed lips, so I believed that they were perhaps bent or out of spec.

When I received a couple of Meg-Gar magazines from Numrich, I discovered the lips were a hair narrower- the magazine that came with the gun was apparently for a .380. Haven't yet had a chance to shoot it with the replacements.

$500 out the door, which I felt was a fair price for the condition of the pistol.

id gladly trade my Sig P232 .380 for a Walther or Manurhin pp/ppk .32.

Just for reference to some of the less educated among us, it's pronounced "VWOOL-TUH".

I bought several of those back when the W German trade ins hit the market. Walther and Manurhin marked.

A buddy of mine always wanted a Walther PP series.

I was clearing out some stuff in the safe and found one. Last Christmas, I gave it to him. Made him an appendix holster for it and, it’s his EDC.

It has a certain style to it that injection molded, MIM cast guns just don’t have.

I get more pleasure out of knowing he’s carrying it than I did owning it.

I agree with your sentiment. I have many modern guns that are superior when it comes to defensive applications, I lean toward Glocks.

There is something about the old guns though- the sense of style and craftsmanship.

Having met my modern gun needs, I have turned to collecting some of the classic and influential designs- the PP is definitely one of those. A Colt 1903 Pocket Hammerless is next.

you haven't told us how it shoots with the replacement magazines....

I was able to acquire one a number of years ago and it was equipped with a square lanyard loop which appealed to me greatly. The 7.65 is such a nice shooting cartridge for a PP or PPK, very different than the .380. I know you will enjoy that beauty for years to come.
