please help me with AR mount

I've searched threads but just need to ask to get the right info. I have a S&W MP15 OR model which simply has the picatinny rail on it and no sights.

I am going to get the Leupold 3x9x40 Mark AR scope

Main question is height - normally this would be a L mount but not for an AR right? Do I need XH or H? I like the supersniper and Leupold QRW's

Opinon on mounting option under $100? eventually I will get BUIS on it so maybe a QR system is best.

If your going to add iron sights, you probably want to go higher.

Here is my setup. My M&P 15 MOE came with a flat top rail, not a full length rail. I have a Burris red dot and magnifier mounted right now in the Burris XTR Rings, 1" high. This puts the red dot about .50 inches above the front sight post (guessing). Zeroing was easy.

If you know what iron sight you want, plan the height around that, but 1" mounts are probably pretty safe all around.

I use these for just about all of my AR mounting. I do check to make sure there are no burrs on the underside and such- and I wish they were extended. But, they do ensure 100% return to zero and I simply remove it with the scope when I want to go to the iron sights.

Not bad for being under $20

The best solution is a $200 LaRue mount but that's out of your budget. What is in your budget is a Burris AR-P.E.P.R..
