1911 new barrel
Just a couple of questions, I have a commander sized 1911 I want to put a new barrel in. I bought a new match grade barrel and bushing from Wilson combat, and will have a professional gunsmith do the installation.
For my own understanding, when a new barrel is fitted is it only the barrel thats fitted and not the slide? also, can fitting a new barrel change the POI?

Yes, the barrel is fitted, not the slide.
Yes, putting a new barrel in can change POI, but that's what different height front sights are for. Usually POI will not change very much if at all.

Koda,
The barrel is fitted to the slide, as was mentioned. The ridges on top of the barrel have to be fitted to the slots on the underside of the slide, to lock in. Plus the link may have to be replaced with a different length. Then the barrel is fitted to the bushing.
