Scope for Scar H

Hey guys...I have a SCAR H that I want to put a Trijicon on. I looked at all the scopes they offer. I like the dark earth model, but I see they don't have it in .308 reticle. My question is...has anyone on here used the 5.56 ACOG with the .308 and has it worked in some way?

I have a Trijicon TA11E on my SCAR 17S and it is perfect. You can get them at 4scopes for under $1200. I would not recommend putting something calibrated for 5.56 on something that fires 7.62x51 due to the BDC the ACOG's have. Black optics on the FDE SCAR's looks pretty good, it matches some of the furniture.

Keep in mind that the BDC is only for a specific weight bullet, driven at a specific velocity with a specific height over the bore.

Chances are, even if you get one that has a .308 BDC it probably won't match exactly all the way out to the maximum yardage on the BDC. Unless you can mimick the load it was designed around.

Trijicons website gives the information for each of the models BDC and you should be able to see if the load you are wanting to use in the SCAR 17 will or will not match the BDCs of different optics.

Even if it is off some, if you are shooting at a big enough target, it should be "good enough" to hit the target.

Consider an EOTech XR308 with a FTS magnifier.

True about the bullet weights. However when using the TA11E with 147gr NATO Surplus (US - German DAG - whatever else) the BDC is dead on out of my SCAR.

I am not one to knock what someone else wants and I will say that the ACOG is one tough fixed power scope I had one on my AR for a while and it would hold zero and the optics were second to none, but at the end of the day all I had was a really nice $1000.00 4x32 fixed power scope if that's what you want then great , but I prefer a zoom power scope for really getting out there.

Trijicon ACOG's were designed for combat (not precision shooting) to hit the center of mass. If you are looking for accuracy you are going to want to look at some scopes that are around 3x-9x power depending on what range you are shooting at. The BDC calibrated for 7.62 will hit within center of mass (Trijicon used 168gr I believe to calibrate the BDC - but the 147gr rounds tend to hit pretty close) And that is why I would not put an ACOG designed for 5.56 on the SCAR 17s. You can zero it - and it will hit where you are aiming without losing zero - but your BDC will not work.
