Monarch 2-8x32 on a Model 7

I have recently (not even home yet) picked up a Model 7 in .260 and am starting to look into scopes. I want to stay around 2x on the low side, not more than 2.5x max. I have no need to hit 9x on the high side of power and want it bright and light weight.

I am especially interested in feed back on the Nikon Monarch 2-8x32 as the title indicates. I like the ability to go above 7x in a smaller scope in case I decide to carry the light gun for yotes, not a primary reason for the gun but why not!

What are the best competitors to this range for $325 or less? I have looked into Bushnell, Redfield and Leupold. What brands am I missing?

Thanks for the replies!
Tony

I've got the little Model 7 in .260 (the one with the 18.5" bbl). I wanted a very light-weight scope so as to not over-balance the little thing. I settled on a Leupold VXII 2-7. It was the lightest scope I could find at less than 11oz.

I took a look at that leupold, nice looking and 3 oz lighter. Need to look at mounting room and see how trading 3 oz for another power of magnification comes out.......

Thanks!

In that price range, I don't believe there is acutally a better scope than a Nikon Monarch.
