Savage trigger job

I have a savage mark ii that i use for bench rest. I am trying to reduce trigger pull and i see a coil can be trimmed. If i trim a coil do i need to bend another end to clip into the trigger assembly. Thanks for any help

I don'tknow which trigger you have, but the Apachee Trigger Kit guarantees your money back if you can't reduce your Mark II/93 trigger pull to under 1 lb.

I don't know of any dench rest shooters that use the factory trigger.
Most switch out to a Timney, Jewel, or some other high end triggers.

You may want to check with Wolfe Springs. Spring kits are inexpensive.

I kinda like my Timneys and wouldn't screw around with a factory trigger in a bench gun. When I was in the game, most folks used Jewell triggers, when available.

That's the problem with the Savage Mark II, you don't have options. You have a Rifle Basics trigger or the Apachee trigger kit for aftermarket. Other than that you're limited to what you can do with the factory trigger and parts.

The Savage comes in 3 types (well 4) triggers.

Plain Trigger.

Acu Trigger: These have a little adjustment screw on top of the spring. They are not labled as such but come with the guns that are in that category .

Acu Trigger Hunter: : This is a hunting range of pull, 7 lbs down to 3 as I recall.
You can make one into a Acu8 Varmint with a spring change. NSS has them/.

Acu Varmint: This is like 4 lbs down to 1.5 lbls, no spring change for these.

Acu Targert: On very selected guns and it has a RED trigger blade, 2.5 on down to 8 oz or some such. It takes a new sear (Savage wants an SN to order one and a waiver and that may no longer be available) and a spring change.

I have two I changed with springs into Varmint. One is very nice the other so so

The one Varmint is so so. Good triggers, not quite bench rest class.

They shoot good enough for my recreational target shooting. If I was bench rest only one would and two would get changed.

If your using your Savage for Bench shooting only , can you order a Accu Target trigger from Savage. When using my Rem 700 308 for bench only I did all the changes to their original trigger , got it slightly under a pound , did all he safety checks but wound up dropping a Jewell in at 10 ounces . Groups will get better but once you get use to shooting it to me it doesn't seem so light , others Witt say it's a hair trigger but a true benchrest trigger is the way to go IMO .

I doubt that Savage will sell you the target now.

More recent changes. May not at all, mixed info on that.
