Pat Rogers has died

I just received word that Pat Rogers. who was one of the greatest writers to contribute to SWAT Magazine, has died.

Pat served in the Marines in Vietnam, and then put in 20 years with the NYPD where he rose to the rank of detective. He was active in the Marine reserve after going to the NYPD and had some very high level assignments in both.

He was one of the greatest and most revered firearms instructors. He made a serious push to keep the military, police and private citizens current on the most modern effective techniques. He wrote a wide variety of articles for SWAT Magazine that were considered classics and state of the art in firearms training. He continued training people until the end. He criss-crossed the country in a large SUV to provide this training well into his late 60s, at pace that would have overwhelmed a much younger man. He lived an amazing life and was an amazing man with his sense of humor and stories that amused and educated all. RIP Marine.

It was truly a privilege to have known him and to have trained under him and have done an article on him.
