I read somewhere that the miniguns such as the ones used on blackhawks and other assault aircraft today use a 7.62mm bullet.
is this 7.62x39mm 7.62x51mm (.308 win) 7.62x54R which one? thanks |

There is a .50 minigun that is in use by the Colombian air force on their Blackhawks. It has three barrels instead of six. Just some useless trivia for you....

The Minigun (as trademarked by General Electric) is a six-barreled, 7.62x51mm, powered gatling gun. Like a small version of the Vulcan. 6000RPM max, usually configured for 2000/4000RPM fire rates.
The GECAL (actually an acronym) is an either four- or eight-barreled gatling gun in .50BMG (12.7x99mm), 4000 or 8000RPM max fire rates respectively. I dunno what the weapon Farley describes is. |
