Savage 187N

I have a Springfield Model 187N 22 caliber rifled made by Savage arms. The rifle fires ok but does not cock the firing pin. It reloads a new cartridge but just doesn't cock the pin. I have disassembled the weapon and it is clean and not gummed up. Any suggestions!

Sounds like a broken firing pin spring.
