Tactical-Light

Just ordered my first handgun with a rail......The shop im getting it from had a TLR-1 light, i was wanting to know if anyone had one of those or a SUREFIRE X-300, Any opinions on the two of these, or suggestions for another brand of light................(Also, they will mount right to an HK 45 without an adapter right?)

I have the tlr-1s and it has different 'keys' to fit on most rails.

Nice light.

I've had a Surefire X300 for around 2 years. It is a superb product in every way. I am constantly moving it between my 1911, P2000, and AR15 and it has never loosened up or become wobbly. The brightness is impressive and battery life is great. I think it is an excellent design and I am glad I spent the extra money on it over the Streamlight brand. Surefire is one of the best companies in this business.

I'm looking into a TLR-1 myself.

They're not a shop, but it's here in Miami. I called, they'll give me a LEO/MIL discount. Is that price good? I think so.....The TLR-2 looks great too...But don't really need the laser.

One of the best out there. I have a few of them. They will fit almost any pistol with a standard rail. It comes with the standard 1913 Picatinny rail, Glock, & S&W 59 Keys.

Depending on the model a HK 45 may need one of these...

The TLR-1 is on sale at lapolicegear.com for $99.99.....I just ordered a bag from them and was happy with the quick shipping.

I am debating getting the light but cannot decide if I want one with laser or not...

It's okay. We're on the exact same boat. Ammo and all lol

Windycity, I'm debating that too. But the laser is $100 extra "/ weird.

I use the TLR 1 and have for years. Great light. Battery life seems to be a bit short but it gives off an incredibly bright white light for its size. The new versions with the C4 Led are even better and a little longer battery life.

I've had a TLR-1 for several years. Great light. No problems with it at all. Since it's on my bedside gun I have no issues with battery life. Don't know that I've had to replace the batteries in 2-3 years and I check it regularly to make sure it's working properly.

The only 3 lights I would consider are in order of quality and price are

1. Surefire X300 170 lumens (unbelievable quality and waterproof to 22 meters but pricey $249.00)
2. Insight M3X LED 150 lumens (good quality waterproof to 22 meters $168.00)
3.Streamlight TLR1 135 lumens (good quality and waterproof to 1 meter app. $100.00)

The Surefire is really better suited to LE duty or Military Ops. But if you want the best, this is it. They are normally not discounted because Surefire enforces a MAP policy very aggressively.

The Insight is very similar to the TLR 1 but is more waterproof if you need that. Lumen output only slightly better than TLR1

TLR1 is probably the best value for civilian use unless you need one of the other lights features.

Having said that I have an X300 on my G30 and an Insight M6X LED light/laser combo on my G29. You will be fine with any of them however.
