What happens to all the gun felons?

In the thread on Project Exile, it was stated that a large number of convicted criminals under Exile had only "gun possession" as the crime, and no criminal history.

Lets say that SCOTUS rules that the 2nd A means what it says, and that non-felon citizens have the RKBA. What happens to all the people locked up on gun possession?

Or stated another way, how can SCOTUS rule that gun possession is not a crime when there are so many people locked up for it?
