I find it interesting how there is so little reference to .380 or .32 handguns in this thread.

I prefer calibers of 9mm or larger, but find the .380 out of a Bersa Firestorm or a Walther PPK/S to be reliable, accurate and concealable.

I also like the Star Model S Super.

The Beretta 70S or 84/85/86 are also solid .380s, but tend to be around the size of some of the modern striker-fired 9mm options.

There have been a LOT of good recommendations for 9mm or .45acp, so I won't pile on there.

In the absence of any guidance more than 'conceal carry handgun' I simply encourage the consideration of .380acp platforms- which are generally smaller overall [unless you get a Husqvarna 1907 with it's 4.5" barrel].

The best hammer fired pistols I have carried are three. Dan Wesson 1911A1 Vigil CCO. 45acp. Heckler and Koch P2000 9mm LEM light trigger. (V1) Springfield Armory SA-35 Hi-Power 9mm.
