For pistol use you need to shoot 5"- 15" above the Garmin unit. I use a tri-pod and it works great. It is very easy to use this thing.

Used many during matches. (Very friendly competitors that offered.)
My brother recently bought one.
Stupid simple to use.
Very accurate.

I want one.
Really, really want one.

My old Beta Chrony Alpha Mega Ultra Crap-tastic, though quite reliable for me, is dead.
I need one of these new units.

(Though, since I compete in NRL22X and PRS22, I want the next generation of the FX or the coming Athlon. -- Or the rumored Applied Ballistics dedicated rimfire unit.)

I now want one even more after reading all these post. I've been using a Pro Chrono for a number of years with decent luck but set up time is a hassle and at my age I rather not waste any!!!

I'm still waiting to hear of one not working yet. However, like most things electronic it has a limited 1 year warranty.

Excellent

Great service from Garmin. Unlikely you will need it.
Do be certain to buy the product from an authorized Garmin dealer. Pretty certain you can confirm dealer status via their site.
It will not be long before knock offs show up, if they do not already exist. Again buy the dealer before you buy the product.
