44 Magnum Rifle Ammo
I have a Marlin 1894 44 Magnum. What would be some good factory Ammo to use for deer and hog?
Thanks, Darrell |

I used Remington Hollowpoints from wal mart, but they destroyed too much meat. So I use 240 gr semi-jacket soft points. They dont seem to explode as badly.

the most effective factory ammo I have seen or used, is the Speer 270 grain Gold Dot Soft Points. I have taken 7 nice bucks, and a few hogs with this bullet. I have used both using factory loads, and my handloads. I get a bit more velocity with my handloads, but the deer don't really seem to notice the difference. From my Marlin 1894S, my handloads groups right around an inch at 50 yards, and stay under two inches at 100 yards. I use a Weaver V4.5 scope.
