Lead bullets in a Glock
Not personally owning a Glock, I have never paid attention to posts about them. I'm sure this has been discussed in the past but please refresh my info. My friend has a 9mm Glock pistol that is having a problem with accuracy with 124 grain cast lead bullets. The jacketed jobs do fine. I thought I remembered something about Glock rifling that concerned lead bullets. The load was a target load with 231 powder. Thanks, Quantrill

No lead in glocks at all
This is bad Same for the HK's and anything else with a polyagonal barrel. Something about pressure not being able to escape around the bullet as it would normally do in the rifling |

A friend use lead in his G19. About 10,000 rounds has passed his barrel. He carries a snake bore in the range and cleans his barrel after 200 rds. His maximum rounds per firing session is 500 rounds. He would shoot about 10 rounds of teflon in his last rounds to clean the barrel.
When he gets home he thoroughly cleans the barrel of any lead deposit. He uses a coping saw blade with the sharp edges removed and the tip rounded-off like a spoon to remove stubborn lead which cannot be remove by bronze brush. Accuracy of his Glock is not affected. Annual Glock magazine 1998 also says that longer bore brushing is required if you use lead bullets. vega |
