one powder two calibers
I've been reloading pistol ammo for about a year now and since I just bought a .223 handi-rifle,(seen it in G&A couldn't resist, and wouldn't you know it they just happen to have one @ my local hangout) I'm thinking of reloading .223 and .308 and am wondering which powder would cover both applications or am I gonna wind up just like my pistols and have about 4 or 5 different kinds?

Varget or IMR4895 come to mind. Also, Ball(C)2, Winchester 748, H335, AA-2460 &2520. Probably one of the Alliant Reloader powders too, though I'm not familiar with them

BLC-2
H322 IMR 3031 And a bunch of others. If you load heavy bullets in the .223, go with H380 or AA2520 but watch the heat in the latter. Surprisingly, these two rounds like the same powders... |

I'll second IMR4895
IMR 3031 if you are shooting lighter loads from the .223, ( I ran into capacity problems when trying to get near max in my Hornady book) but shot great. Also Viht N-135 or N-133 |

Varget and AA 2520. The 2520 is maybe not the best/fastest in 223, but still extremely accurate.....

I'll second W748 - seems to be Win's powder for "factory duplication" for both these cartridges. Meters great, too boot.

ONE POWDER - 2 CALIBERS
I use Winchester 748 to load 223 Remmington and 30-06.

VTR996,
I like WW748 in .223 & .308 for getting high power, reliable functioning & nearly zero muzzle flash at night. Yes, I agree, it also meters well. Regards, George In sunny Arizona |

IMR4895 and WW748 would be my suggestions for those two calibers also.

I use varget and h414 and both have proved great, the b=varget seems to be cleaner and more accurate of the two

If your using a powder measure off a press, go with Win 748 (ball powder flows better). I use it in 222 and 308 with excellent results.
