Cleaning shotgun shells?

How do you clean your shotgun shells before you reload them?

When the wifes not home a load gets dumped in the washing machine and run with a little laundry detergent and an extra rinse. Then they get spread out on the picnic table in the back yard to dry in the sun. works great on the AA hulls. Don't do this with Federal paper basewad hulls though. it makes the paper part mushy and then it falls apart

I don't either. Shoot a good clean powder with a tightly crimped load and you shouldn't have to clean.

I'm not cleaning them to remove powder residue ect. My range isn't well maintained (nice gravel and grass) It's mostly mud. The hulls go in the washing machine to remove mud and crud.

Wherever I shoot trap or skeet, the general rule is that any empty that hits the ground belongs to the range...

And, anyone picking them up is reminded of that...

Why so they can charge you for YOUR hulls later? It would seem to me that a concious reloader would be doing the range a favor.

I have never been to a range that has this silly rule. Don't want to go to one either!

IMO!
