Hello, My name is Bill H., and I am a loadaholic

My most acute symtoms are;
I actualy go shooting on occasion just so I will have more brass to reload.
I have actualy gotten freinds to buy guns in calibers that I do not have, just so I can buy dies to reload for them
I try to get my friends to shoot more than they normaly would, just to have more brass to reload.
If it were up to me, all ammunition would come as components only

I am not a well man

And the truly sad part is, I am still not an expert after all these years!

Ah well, If I were that good at it, it might take some of the fun out of it

Not sure.
I have 3 Dillon 1050s, 1 Forster Co-Ax, and 2 of the little Lee Reloading Presses.
Reload for 15+ calibers.
Buy bullets by the 1000, but would place significant orders if I could afford it.

Yup, they sure do. I just can't afford the price of the die kit right now (that would almost put another rifle in the safe, for heaven-sakes!

). Plus, I like a good challenge. Spinning out my own is proving itself up to the task of challenging me.

I helped another reloader move.

He had a few thousand pounds of reloading stuff.
That was ok.

We moved it 1000 miles to be in a better hunting location.
That was ok.

But what killed me was the guy who moved out of the house, took a gun safe out of the basement, and we moved a gun safe 1000 miles and took it down into the basement.

I was like moving a piano.
At least Stage 5 hand loading hoarding can be broken down into boxes that can be lifted.

Between III and IV. 2 beams scales, 1 digital scale, and 1 digital scale/dispenser. Two no. 55 powder dispensers. 15 Different calibers(I think that's all of them). ~20 different powders. 4 or 5 brands of primers. One dedicated room in the house for all of it. 1 single stage, 1 turret, 1 Dillon 550. Plus all associated tools and gauges. I haven't gotten into shotgun reloading or casting yet... When I do I'm not sure I'm going to tell my wife.

Teetering on the brink of stage 4...

Single stage Lee Press, Lee Classic turret press, Hornady LNL AP press, 2 MEC 650 progressives (12 & 410), 1 MEC 600 (12 ga), 1 Texan (12 ga), 20# Lee casting pot, 12-15 molds at any given time, 1 Star Lubrisizer, plus all the other extra stuff most others have (tumbler, etc). Pounds of powder, thousands of primers, and usually one PO'd girlfriend that claims I never spend any time with her.

32 Auto, 9mm, 38 Spl, 357 Mag, 45 Auto, 460 Rowland, 45 Colt, 454 Casull, 204 Ruger, 223 Rem, 243 Win, 7.62x54R, 410 bore, 12 gauge. Cast for all calibers except 204, 223, and 243.

Not even sure where I fit in, let's see:
1 Progressive 12ga press
1 Mec 600 20 ga
2 Rockchuckers
1 Lyman All American Turret
3 beam scales
3 powder measures
2 case trimmers
2 tumblers
more die sets than I can count (most for cartridges that I don't even own but won't part with them) doubles of some sets
Primers total +7000
Powder +/- 15lbs
All in a dedicated outbuilding.

never did stage I, started out in stage II

Not sure just where I fit in your listing nowdays. I retired my Dillon 450 years ago, and do everything on a single stage press and with a hand priming tool.

Currently loading for over 30 rifle and pistol rounds, from .22 Hornet to .458 Win Mag. Including a couple of wildcats. Multiple thousands of primers, cases, brass and bullets, and dozens of pounds of powder on hand at any one time. And, I'm currently preparing to tool up for two more calibers, .32ACP and .221 Fireball!

I have signs of all stages–

3 Presses (single, turret, and progressive)
3 Powder Measures (two traditional, one RCBS Chargemaster)
19 handgun powders
7 rifle powders
Cases and cases of bullets
More brass than I know what to do with (but I *might* use it some day)
5 cases of primers (all kinds)
All manner of case prep equipment (trimmers, cleaners, etc.)
500+ pounds of lead
15+ bullet moulds (I only cast for 3 calibers)

It's a great disease to have though.

Have even got out of bed early to pull the press handle before going to work.

Looks like I'm Approaching Stage II.

Just got the equipment on December 25 - just 54 days ago.

Bad infection - need help!

There is also the fork in the road right after stage II, where the addict must have Corbin, Forster, or Harrel presses, where standard grade brass must give way to Lapua and then Norma offerings and nothing but match primers will do. This poor fool also buys Hart or Stolle actions to be bedded in McMillan stocks by expensive custom gunsmiths who fit Bartlein, Kreiger and Shilen barrels to it at prices rivalling my first home. As if this were not enough, he MUST have hand swaged, individually inspected custom made bullets, and a whole host of exotic accessories. The guy buys N133 by the hundredweight. He is contemplating a private range on his back 40--he is a nut--maybe a lottery winner--a benchrester.............

The sad thing is that you go into reloading to save money and think you are getting away with minimal cost. Then you really get into it, and within a year or two you are considering more equipment than is economical for you to use. Most reloaders go from stage 1 to stage 5 quite fast, and do not consider the cost to cartridge ratio.

If they were to break it down they would be unpleasantly surprised to find that they are paying up to $5 a cartridge for a common, every day 50 cent cartridge if they were to buy it in factory ammo.

I know guys who reload upwards of 5k cartridges a year on a single stage press, and on the opposite side of the coin, I know guys who reload a maximum of 2k cartridges a year on their high dollar Dillon set-ups. To me, it's all about what you NEED and not what you WANT.

Where I spend my money is in powder, primers, brass, and bullets. To me ... a press is a press, and they all perform the same basic function. However, you can never have enough components if the market has a stranglehold on components.

Well, I just got started loading for two handguns[.38spl and 45acp].
Been handloading various rifles since 1978; usual suspects: 22-250, 25-06, 270 Win, 3 different 30-06's, 308 Win,etc,etc. You get the picture.
Now someone throws in shotgun loading!!! Lordy, I don't know what stage that would put me in! But I'm sure I'll find out.
Well, back to the bench. Can't reload if I'm on the computer.

I think I'm slowly slipping toward stage IV. Still used a balance beam scale, but have purchased powder by the 8lb can and I cast bullets in 7 different molds. I've cut back to just 6 types of powder but find myself thinking of buying dies for a new caliber. It's a sad, nasty habit.
