Guide rod gone
I was cleaning a Marlin model 60 yesterday afternoon. All was going well and I started to reassemble my rifle and I was compressing the recoil spring and kinked in two places. It is useless now, no biggie I had a spare. Again compressing the recoil spring with the guide rod and it slipped. I launched my guide rod to parts unknown. So my gun sits on my work bench in pieces waiting for new recoil springs and guide rods to arrive. I ordered 2 of each just in case. Wish me luck.

I have done similar. Launched the spring plug from the front of my 1911 into the nether regions of my closet one time. Found it later going through boxes of old photos stored on the top shelf... after I had order a new one of course. It happens to the best of us.
