New Charter Arms Revolvers (aka the .45 Colt Bulldog thread)

And y'all said it couldn't be done. Well, Charter's done gone and done it.

https://youtu.be/vpdfEqJwFC0?t=352

and they also got a .41 Magnum they're coming out with but who cares about that?

I heard that too, but we'll see how much larger the frame is. I don't think a 1/16 of an inch in every dimension is too much of an increase in size to make it detestable compared to the .44 Bulldog.

Also, it looks like both the .41 Mag and the .45 Colt are using the same frame and I wonder if the frame was designed around .45 Colt and .41 Mag was adapted to it or if it was the other way around.

Me do!!!!
Always been an interesting round to me, but I don't have anything chambered for it. A CA Bulldog sounds perfect for it!

They might be trying to get some extra mileage out of the Pitbull .45 ACP frame, if it's the same frame.

Yes, the 45ACP Pitbull has a larger diameter cylinder and larger frame than the 44Spl Bulldog - I was hoping that Charter Arms would consider making it in 45Colt if the cylinder was long enough. I reload for both 45 cartridges so I was considering the Pitbull 45ACP, but 45Colt would very very nice - just have to keep my Ruger loads out of it.. OTOH, 41Magnum would be pretty nice, too!

I think it likely as they offer a 4 inch model for their .22 Pathfinders, .357 Mag Pug., and .44 Bulldog. It probably won't come out for a little while though.

And one must wonder with Charter soon to be releasing a .41 Magnum if they may bring back the .327

I'm excited about the 45 Colt .. less pressure when compared to the 45acp and the 41mag..

And I already have a few boxes of 45 Colt SD ammo that funtions perfectly in a shorter barrel

^That PDX1 load is probably the best .45 Colt self defense ammo one can get because it is a guaranteed expander and won't overpenetrate.

However, when it comes to .45 Colt in a short barrel, I think a full wadcutter is not to be overlooked. Yes, accuracy will likely suck past 25 yards, but in such a short barrel, I doubt anybody will be taking shots any further than that.

The PDX1 45 Colt works great in a short barrel ... Maybe better in shorter barrel

I agree, just listing other options as PDX1 can be tough to find for a decent price. I'm pretty sure that when Winchester made it, they made it with the Taurus Judge and its long cylinder and short barrel in mind. It's amazing to think that the bullet still expands even out of the Public Defender!

Winchester Silvertip 225gr. HP is good ammo in a 45 Colt revolver.

I'm on board for a .41 mag, been shooting them for over 30 years. Always thought a snub would be fun.

Good to see Charter expanding their line. I was hoping they would come out with a 6 round .357 in their larger frame. I may wait a few weeks and send them an email to see if I could swing by the factory to check out the new offerings. They are really good about that.

I had a new .44 Bulldog that was out of time right out of the box. After they fixed it, the cylinder release broke within 100 rounds and the gun had loosened up.

IMNSHO I would never buy a Charter as a serious shooter. The durability just ain't there.

Happy to see another .45 colt double action revolver. I've had no interest in CA guns but I'll be picking one of these up.
