Is it the screw that looks to be backed out?

That's my guess too. You can see quite a bit of threadlocker exposed.

Took me a few minutes to see what you were talking about, but yeah, that's a problem in the making.

Interesting, thanks for that. I will have to check mine and the wife’s, I had to send mine in because the the nut on the screw that’s at the back of the top strap was missing.

Judging by how smooth the Loctite looks I doubt if it was ever screwed in.

Good eyes! I don't own one or I'd be looking at it very closely right now if I did!

with an allen wrench from the bottom. Mine backed out at one time. There was a video on youtube that pointed out this tendency and I checked mine and sure enough it was backed out. Used some locktite and it's been fine since.

iirc, it takes a 0.050" (aka 1.3mm) allen wrench.

I wonder if the same problem wouldn't also affect an LCR chambered in .327 Federal Magnum? Bears checking for all LCR revolvers to be safe and sure.

In the OP I posted a video of Hickock45 with a LCR 38 SPL which had a backed out cylinder release screw.

Now here's a different video of Hickok45 with a LCR 9mm. Pause it at 4:35 and see if you notice anything peculiar.

The other end of that screw isn't threaded, and it acts as hinge pin for the part you press with your thumb.

Here's a high-tech cartoon of how LCR's go together and come apart. Around 0:30

I love Ruger revolvers but I swear the monkey on the line tasked with thread-locking their cylinder release screw must sleep through much of their shift. The only consistent issue I've ever had with Rugers is that flipping screw backing out seemingly due to no/not enough goop on the darn thing. Years ago I just started automatically pulling them from new guns and slathering them up good, none have backed out since, but geez

Sure, this one is from the same channel, it shows how the LCR works. I like the part at the end where it only takes three clicks to realize all five were fired.

I just checked my lcr 357 and the screw was backed out almost all the way, probably 10 turns or more. I put a drip of blue lock tight on it and bottomed the screw out again. My screw had no tention on it at all when screwing it back in making me think there wasnt any locktight on it at all before.
