Western Auto bolt-action .410

Can anyone tell me if this is a model 150 Westernfield? It has Western Auto stamped on the barrel and that's all. I was told it is a Westernfield, I guess that's correct??? I'm needing a magazine for it and I found one for a model 150 but I'm not sure if that's what I even have.

This is the best pic I have of it.

It may not be C&R, so I moved it to "Shotguns".

Western Auto did sell the Mossberg 183 bolt-action .410 as the "Western Auto 330", but I'm not familiar enough with the model to say at a glance.

Hopefully someone in the shotgun subforum will recognize it.

Thanks for your response Tamera, but I put it in C&R as I thought it was a relic for sure...

Maybe someone here in shotguns will know what it is....

I don't recognize the gun in your photo. But the Westernfield - I believe is a different gun.

In my experience, all of the Wesernfield model, bolt action shotguns I've seen ( and I have one in a 16ga ) loaded from the top - into the magazine. You pulled the bolt back - and then were able to load 2 shells in the magazine from the top under spring pressure ...if that makes sense.

The magazine was not portable - and it was not inserted from the bottom of the gun / the magazine was removeable / but it was screwed into the stock of the gun.

Your photo looks like you are looking for a mag that inserts into the gun ...but it might help if you can roll the gun over and add another photo to help us identify what you might need.

Unless there were big changes... The mossberg didn't have the big plunger lookin' piece that protruded behind the bolt when cocked... it had a visible piece but nothing you could grab and hold onto.

Also, their safety was a side to side action tab under the bolt.

Well this shotgun is defiantly pre 1980. It was in worse condition than this in 1970... The only reason teh barrel looks as good as it does is I had it teflon coated as it is also a family heirloom like the ole .38 I posted over there.

Now whether the magazine is removable or not I don't know..

Yeah and that's the safety too. You pull it back and turn it to the left, if my memory serves me right, and that keeps the firing mechanism from moving forward and firing.

I won't be home for another couple of weeks but it seem like some people here actually know their shot guns and I'll post some more pics to try and identify it. Thanks fellers!

I have a Western Auto 22 bolt action rifle that I've always thought was a Marlin model. I think they sold alot of Marlin guns relabeled as Western Auto.
