My first 500 S&W Magnum loads.
Took the 500 out yesterday Here's the scoop
Caliber: 500 S&W Magnum Firearm: S&W 8 3/8" Bullet: 350gr Sierra JHP Powder: 37.0grs Hodgdon Lil Gun Case: Magtech 1.615" Primer: CCI Large Rifle Magnum C.O.A.L.: 2.040" Average 1400fps. Shooting this was a lot of fun. It isn't a stout load but still booms bigger than most other cartridges |

was just talking about this yesterday.
I have the SW .500 in 4 inch and am wishing i would have got the 8 3/8 put a scope on it and go real use out of it (hunting). How is the recoil with the long barrell? My 4 incher is NOT at all fun to shoot (44grn Corbon). And yes its got a big boom with big recoil and draws big eyes

Are you going to hunt with the pistol or just use it as a range toy. I just bought the H&R 500 and got a bullet sample pak something to look into.http://www.ballisticsupply.net/Defau...x?tabid=252105
Great Ammo and tons of fun. Keep posting on your reloading endeavors and once my dies come in I'll keep you posted. kdog |

I use hard cast lead gas check bullets in my 500 Handi-Rifle with either W-296 or AA4100 powder.
