I know this is the reloading area, but...
Does anyone know where I can pick up .256 ammo? I can't find the friggin' crap anywhere!

You might try:
http://www.ows-ammo.com/catalog/inde...sort/3a/page/2 Kinda pricey, though. OR, start reloading. You can get brass, bullets, powder at Midway. Here's the brass: http://www.midwayusa.com/ebrowse.exe...*670***9013***

I wish I had the money to start reloading... Highschool sucks... If I can get the cash together I'm going to buy a .30-30 so I have something a little cheaper to deer hunt with.

You're hunting deer with a .256 Magnum?
Bit light, but with carefully chosen shots it should work. You could probably get into reloading for well under $100 if you went with a Lee intro kit, but the real problem is going to be dies. I'm not sure that anyone is making them anymore, which means that the ones you do find are probably going to command a premium. Midway has them from Hornady Custom for $52 and change. The RCBS Custom are $126! Dang... Save your money and get a .30-30!

I killed my first deer with it. It's about as small as I'd go for deer (couldn't use a .223) but every shot I've ever made was a clean kill...

Stuff is available.
A quick look at E*bay turned up this:
brass: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-256-WINCHEST...QQcmdZViewItem and this, dies: http://cgi.ebay.com/RCBS-256-WIN-2-D...QQcmdZViewItem Of course, you have to outbid someone else for it first. My preference is to note the time the auction ends, then place my maximum bid within the last 30 seconds. I only get one shot, but that way if I have the high bid no one has a chance to outbid me, which they could if I bid minutes, hours or days before the auction ends. |

Thanks, now to beg mom to front me the cash. The brass is easy...It's just a necked down .357.
