303 Savage

Can you fire the 30/30 round out of my 303 Savage to fire form it or do I have to remove the bullet and pack with corn starch? The bullet diameter is the same the brass is a little different.

No, you cannot. 30-30 is longer and skinnier than the 303 Savage, you could definitely injure yourself. Shoot 303 Savage ammo or put it away.

Now don't get me wrong, I have known people who swear the 303 Savage and the 30-30 are the same thing, and have even fired 30-30 ammo in their old 99s chambered for 303. But the brass is unusable afterwards, and they were only saved by the long throats Savage used on the 303 Savage becasue it was originally loaded with 190 gr bullets.

You can form brass for 303 British or 30-40 Krag brass if you like but good quality reloadable brass is available. The old Lyman #45 manual has load data for the 303 Sav.

303 Savage.

You cannot form .303 Savage brass using .30-30 brass. Too different.

New brass and loaded ammo is again available for the .303 Savage.

Try Graf and Sons, they have primed brass in stock.
