63,000 psi ??? The Norma book of 40 years ago showed loads less than 48,000 and more recently that was reduced . How did you arrive at 63,000 ?
If you want faster then get a 65-06 or 6.5-284 or 264WMag !!

QuickLoad maxes the 6.5x55 Swedish at 55ksi, and Hornady's published loads appear to stick below 47,000psi or so
That said: Ramshot Magnum (Big Boy) Vihtavuori N560 Accurate MAGPRO IMR 7828 ...do best for ~52ksi/HNDY 140 AMax, full case, 95-98% burn, and good velocities (2,850-ish)... but I hesitate to recommend actual loadout weights. Last edited by mehavey; June 3, 2012 at 09:39 PM. |

sorry, i should have elaborated more. this is mainly for research purposes at this point, but when i start working up some loads i will be starting at safe levels below published max and slowly working up till i find the combo i'm looking for. (may never get past m96 levels) most books have max loads that are safe in m96 mausers, my rifle is a modern commercial m98 action and can handle pressures much higher than a m96 with no pressure signs.
i am just curious about some slower powders that i'm having trouble finding load info for. i dont generally load compressed loads, 104% at 63k should be a pretty full case at more moderate pressures. this is all for research, no intentions of ever getting up to those kind of pressures! just looking at velocity and case capacity relationships of some slower powders. if someone could run quickload at 50k, 55k, and 63k that would be even better! thanks for all your input so far. |

7828 ssc is one of the slow burners i was interested in due to the speed and relative lack of pressure.
if you get a chance, would you mind running a powder workup on 7828ssc? thanks for your time, chris |

Steve, I've a curious question. I can understand that QL is all about the hypothetical, so. This model has a 26"tube and 3.080"OAL cart. How much or is there any jump by the bullet into the rifling for prediction purposes in this case? TIA

Duno, I would have to think so. This is very complex software and I am sure I will never be able to utilize all of it's capabilities. There is a ton of stuff QL will do that is way beyond my limited ballistic and computer knowledge.
If you want to know all the things QL can do UncleNick is the guy to explain it, certainly not me. |

If I may join , I've been cooking loads for this caliber for some time , excellent caliber very accurate and easy to load I use Berger vld (hunting ) 140 gr for my Swedish mauser and howa 1500 this two have that very long trout and the Berger's are the perfect combination
I'm getting .075" MOA in 5 shoot groups on the howa. I also load for a CZ 550 but on this one I use the Hornady A-max 123gr for a 1-9" twist . I got 9# of Viht N-140 that I'll like to use on the Swedish does any one have load data for 140gr pills. Adiós.

No.
If you want Quickload, buy it. I have no patience with folks who want copywrited data or the benefit of a program I own. I have even less use for folks who provide such things. But it does help me know who is who.
