What Does Special Steel Stand For?

HEY GUYS:GUNNUTS HERE,I was given a Browning Citori,On the barrel it is marked SPECIAL STEEL,What does that stand for?THANKS ALOT

My BPS says that on the barrel also, even though it is just a normal model. So it might be just like mine where the Steel Special just means it is rated for steel but nothing more.

Many older double guns were marked as steel to distinguish them from Damascus barrels. Although I doubt this would be the case for Citori guns as they came along well after damascus fell out of style.

Probably just a sales gimmick, or perhaps citori had different grades of steel used in the barrels.

My Perazzi trap gun was marked "Accasio speciale." You got it, special steel. I think it is just a marketing thing.
