Serial numbers ran from J100000 in 1973 to J250000 in 1974.

Serial numbers ran from C1 in 1948 to C223998 in 1951. Yours would likely be 1948 to early 1949.
Only a letter from S&W would get you any closer but even that would only be the shipping date.

Hello, thank you in advance for still looking up these serial numbers. I have a Model 39-2 with the serial number A169---. If you're able to find this one for me I'd really appreciate it.

A169xxx would be 1973.

An 8 prefix would likely be 1971/72. The serial numbers those years ran from 1J1 to 999J99.

Serial numbers ran from A565001 in 1979 to A655000 in 1980.

Bit of an odd one I've picked up.

Model 10-6 Heavy barrel, serial #3D065XX

Web surfing is getting me a lot of different info' on that "3D" serial number???

2D80001 thru 3D99999 ran in 1978.

That serial number dates to 1975/76. However, that is a N frame serial number (model 27, 29, 57, etc. A model 19 is a K frame and would have a serial number with a "K" in it.
