The FOXFIRE series of books feature a young Herschel, in book 5, making a flintlock rifle in pictures and text.

If you are a blackpowder person, you would probably appreciate the whole FOXFIRE series.

I relied heavily on that Foxfire when I built my first rifle. 36 al Douglas octagon,Siler lock kit. Lumberyard walnut board. It shot good!.
