Cast bullets in 7.62x39

I've got a big load of old National bullet Co. 120gr hardcast bullets in .308 that I used to load in .30 carbine. I was looking to load some very low velocity plinkers for my SKS, without gas checks. Even accurracy is not a major concern, and I don't even care if they will self eject. Targets will be 12oz cans at 75 ft.

I have RE7, IMR4198, Unique, which all seem to be suitable for low velocity rifle loads. Also have Blue Dot, H110, and W296 but they don't seem to like lots of vacant case space well. Also have some Red Dot but suspect it to be a fast for rifle use.

Anybody have any suggestions on a starting point?

I also have a ton of 77gr cast bullets from National for .32 in .311 I believe, which I rarely load nowadays. Would probably fit the SKS bore a little better.

I shoot some 155 gr cast out of my SKS ahead of 8 gr of Unique.
Nice plinking load, Will not operate the action so need to manual eject.
Thats fine though. Who wants to chase valuable 7,62x39 brass being flung to high heaven from a SKS?

I have been curious though. I have since shot that same bullet out of my 300 Black out ahead of 16.5 gr of RL-7 and that has performed excellent.
I may want to try that out of my SKS.

Ohhh Update!!!
I grabbed my Lymans cast bullet hand book.
It show the LEE C312-155-2R and RL-7 15.5gr to 22gr in the 7.62x39.
Gona try that one.

Hey I have some C312-155-2R's I may trade for those 77 gr 32's???

4 to 5 grains of Red Dot will push that 120gr. pill just fine. It will NOT cycle the action, however.

With RL7 I got reliable cycling in my AK using Lee's C312-160-2R (actually finishes w/ GC at 173gr) at 14gr of powder. 15-16gr ought to be a good starting point with a little lighter pill, then ladder it up till you like it.
