I'll use several firearms, depending on where I'm hunting:

Savage 110 7mm Rem Mag, 154gr Hornady SST
Mauser 98K custom build .270win, 130gr Hornady SST (as long as it's scope gets back from Leupold for repair in time)
Ruger M77 .308win (still evaluating bullets)

Possibly 1858 Remington New Army (pistol) repro for BP week

Mostly I'll probably use the Ruger, I've been practicing with the open sights all year, I just like the light weight and short barrel. Most of my shots will be 50yds or less so a scope doesn't really add all that much.

I am considering upgrading the Thompson's scope. As far as gun season, I'm not fickled, we have a specific rifle zone and I may not hunt in it this year. We can hunt with a handgun statewide in Michigan and I just might do that.

None for deer, this year..... have 2 daughters with youth permits, with a bonus tag on each permit. 4 deer should fill the freezer quite nicely.

I hunt with run-of-the-mill el cheapo guns. Seven years so far with a CVA Bobcat .50 for muzzleloader season, a sporterized Moisin Nagant M44 with S&B 180gr. SP, or a Maverick 88 slug gun with Win 1oz slugs, all using open sights. 50yd shot is a long one for me, where my stand is located. Occasionally I'll use an old H&R handi-rifle in 30-30 with 150gr. PSP.

Never been let down by any of them.

Archery will be my Shakespeare recurve (for the 32nd year) Muzzleloading will be a CVA .50 Hawken. Modern gun will be my Savage 110 '06. I'm so glad the season is upon us.

More to get out than to hunt.

They hunt on his private property,,,
They have stands built all over the place,,,
I'm thinking I would like to try taking a deer with a handgun.

I've been practicing with my 6" S&W Model 629,,,
Off of a rest (similar to the side of the stands they have built),,,
I can keep most of the shots in a 6" circle at 40 yards and all within 10 inch.

I don't know if that will be good enough for me,,,
Last thing I want to do is wound a deer.

If I'm not confidant enough for the revolver,,,
I'll go to my old standby which is an 8mm German Mauser.

last couple of years have been one of my bolt actions in 30/06 , but this year i wanted to do something different, so i built a 6.8 AR specifically for hunting the wooded and brushy areas back home in South Dakota and also for the mountains in AZ that have thick scrub oak and shots ranging from mere feet to across canyons.

i just finished up an AR in 6.8 SPC and my daughter will be using that (I already bagged a buck during archery season and AZ only allows 1 deer per year )..

latest 6.8 SPC II build (red dot is being replaced with a nikon 3-9x40 for deer season)

Lauer Lower with RRA 2 stage trigger set at 3.4 lbs, ERGO sure grip, DPMS block off plate with dual sided mount points, Magpul CTR Stock, H carbine buffer, and a black hawk 2 point sling for now

Upper is Aero Precision with M4 cuts, tmarked and has a nice american flag on the rear (covered by the BUIS), PRI big latch on the charging handle, DPMS free float rifle length forend, YHM gas block with flip up sight, magpul BUIS, m16 carrier, WOA bolt, BHW stainless (blasted to satin) 18" HBAR with 1:10 twist and 5r (enfield) rifling and SPC II chamber with m4 ramps and rifle length gas, BHW dragons head muzzle brake and of course a DPMS rifle length tube.

Marlin 30AS in .30-30. Depending on how thick the brush is, I may take my Rossi 92 in .357.

If I see any boar/pig sign, I'll go back out w/my Mossberg 590A1, loaded up with slugs.

Well bow season opens first so i will be using my golden eagle mossy oak 32 Then when rifle rolls around I will bust out the M1A scout squad in .308! I used the tikka 7mm last year and worked great but I like to switch it up!

For bow season, I will be shooting a Bear Super Kodiak Magnum 63lb recurve, with white fletched ash arrows tipped with a Wensel Woodsman Broadhead.

Next will be doe season, with a rifle, so I will take a Krag-Jorgenson carbine, in 30-40 krag.(open sights)

For early muzzleloader season my .54 cal sharps will be with me.

Rifle season is next, and I will be taking my 760 gamesmaster in .35 rem, with 150 grain core lokt bullets. I have a Leupold 2-7 on it.

Lastly, I will be taking my TC Hawkin Flint lock for the after Christmas "Primitive weapons season"(I never understood why they consider a compound bow a primitive weapon???????)

As you can see, I like to make hunting harder, as if its not hard enough already!!!

Will be getting my new Savage 10FP in the mix this year for some moderate range shots.

Will step up to the Winchester Model 70 in 7mm REM MAG for open agriculture fields down here in costal NC & the old reclaimed strip mines up in South Eastern KY.

My Winchester Model 70 in 30.06 will be my primary go to gun.

My Marlin .444 will be used in dense swap type areas where the close in shot is the norm.

I will be using the CVA .50 cal muzzle loader & Mossberg 500 w/ rifled barrel for huntin on base.

I have a faithful order of rotation that if I deviate from, I am most sure I will be punished by some power, somewhere (LOL).

So, therefore, with a degree of reluctance (because it is probably the least versatile in the fold) for this year, it is the 12 Ga. Rem. 1100, fully rifled slug barrel.

I simply cannot hurt any of my best friends feelings.

Mostly I'll bow hunt with my truth II. If I pull a firearm tag I'll use a 50 cal traditions muzzle loader, and back that up with a 44 cal Raging Bull with scope. Sorry I don't have pics.
