22-250 Barnes 53 gr triple shocks

Anyone reloaded these? how was your accuracy...I'm concerned about stablizing it since it must be longer due to no lead core... I have a standard 1:14.

Anyone tried these? Or, does anyone know the bullet overall length?

Not sure. But just shot today, my first trial with a box of 50 Gr Barnes Varmint Grenades thru an AR with 1 / 9 twist and they went thru the paper target sideways! These bullets were given to me since they couldn't stabilize them in his rifle with 1/14 twist.

Maybe they need 1/7?

No, they should be stable. Perhaps it is because the twist rate is too fast and the bullets are either stripping the rifling or are being spun too fast and partially coming apart.

How fast are you driving them?

I shoot the 55 grain varmit grenades through my Rock River (1/9) and have had excellent results. How'd you load these?

I agree w/ the too fast twist...however, the tripple shock is a solid copper, which will be longer since there is no lead core. Has anyone used these? I have a 1:14 on my 22-250. A friend loaded some in his 222, and got 2" groups. I was thinking about using them, and was hoping I could get better results w/ the higher velocity the 22-250 generates. If I could get them around 1-1.5" I'd probably load them.

Sorry to highjack your thread!

These 50gr Varmint Grenades are very long for their weight. The box has a sticker saying 1/10 or tighter recommended.

They are fragile at the hollow tip and my seating die was indenting a "ring" in them. This is in a New Hornady die with the follower in it. Maybe I need to do some modification to this follower? Any suggestions on the proper way to seat these bullets without damage?

They were loaded with 26gr & 27gr of Varget. CCI 42 Primer in LC brass.
