Is my Fiocchi 9mm safe to shoot?

Hello everyone,

New poster here; I'm also fairly new to the firearms community as well. I wanted to get advice on whether or not some ammo I bought is safe to shoot.

It is brass Fiocchi 9mm FMJ bought two months ago, and when I took it out recently, I noticed a grayish-white film? around some of the primers. Not sure if it was this way when I bought it. I am worried it might corroding or degrading somehow...

What do you think? Safe or no? Any opinions are very appreciated!

Probably primer sealer. Won't hurt to try some

Welcome home. Pull up a stump and set a spell. I'm sure if you have any doubts you can just send them to any member here who will gladly test them for you.

And yup. Seen some strange looking primer sealers over the years.

Thanks for the replies, and the warm welcome! It's good to know they don't look too off, I just didn't know what it should look like. I think you might be right on with the primer sealer, after doing a quick search on that.

I will try them soon and see how they fare.

I can confirm that it's primer sealant. I have some Fiocchi 7.62x25 Tokarev ammo with green primer sealant, and I've seen Fiocchi ammo with blue and even red rings around the primers as well.

Some of their bullets use sealant around the case mouth as well, such as their .32 ACP ammo.

Those look fine.

Where do you store your ammo? If it's indoors in the AC, it will be fine for a long time.

I had a few boxes of Aguila, about 12 yrs old, stuck away in a closet. I came across them a couple months ago, they smelled nasty- one of the cats peed on them. There was patina on the brass... which cleaned off, and the rounds shot fine.

I do store it indoors, in the living space area of the house. It's crazy the stories people have of how they stored their ammo, and it still shot fine!

When I can actually find more ammo again, I plan on getting an ammo can for the peace of mind. Glad what I have seems to be good!

It's fine. Shoot it if you must, but save it if you need too. Ammo is kind of scare these days.

I got a Canik TP9SF, luckily right before people started grabbing up all the guns and ammo.

It's a great quality handgun, and it didn't cost too much, which for a beginner was awesome!

Agree with Kreyzhorse, shoot it if you must otherwise save it. Also the price of ammo is going through the roof now.
