New shooter's website

Found this one that came online after ebay booted us reloaders out.
check out www.brassjunkies.com
It looks like it may grow into a good place for us reloaders.

I'd bet it doesn't make it at all. What do they need with my name, address, state, zip code, home phone number, just to register? None of their business and it sounds more of a spam generator than anything. Won't see me there unless things change.

Looks like you can browse without registering. They have 1 item listed, but I suppose you have to start somewhere.
Will keep an eye on it.

billpole,

I see you joined a few sites yesterday to bring brasskunkies.com to our attention. Might I ask what your connection to brassjunkies is?

Sorry, but I have serious doubts about someone with one post who uses it to promote a business. This is spam, pure and simple.

Well Bill, you're not the first to list that website. A couple weeks or maybe a month ago it was where it is today, almost no activity. I didn't look into it far enough to see you needed all that personal info, what else, blood type, eye retinal scan SSN?

thanks, snuffy...and sorry, all others

I guess I should have kept my mouth shut....didn't mean to offend anyone....and was hoping to find some people with similar interests....retired cops can get boring...but, with the comments and 2 messages from the moderator, it is obvious that I made a serious mistake....my sincere appologies to all.

I wouldn't call it a serious mistake, just skepticism on the part of the forum. You'll find a similar reaction when all the same factors are in place on just about any discussion forum.

If you enjoy reloading, you should jump in head first in to the discussions in this area. You haven't offended anyone and should feel free to take part in the discussion.

No harm done that I can see

I'll leave it up for a while. It's not like that site is trying to sell something here on TFL. And, it is not unheard of to announce a new site which directly pertains to a particular forum. It might be that brassjunkies would benefit some TFL members.

I went ahead and joined up. I like the idea of getting in at the ground floor of something that slaps ebay in the face.

I'm curious how anybody thinks it could work if they didn't have your name and address.

billpole,

My apologies if I misjudged your intentions. I tend to be skeptical and suspicious by nature. The combination of factors I cited shows up from time to time trying to sneak in an advertisement or porn, and since your first post was to direct one to another site, I took it as backdoor spamming. I'm sorry to make an honest man feel unwelcome. I like reloading, too, and hope to see your posts on that forum.

Not to steal thunder, but instead offer suggestions... I've had great luck over at ammobrasstrader.com for trading brass and bullets!

Thanks Bill for the tip. I guess until now, I didn't even realize that fleabay wasn't allowing brass sales anymore. I am a fairly seasonal reloader so I guess I haven't checked there for brass in a while.

Welcome to TFL!

Everyone makes mistakes!!

Folks, when you retire from a law enforcement job....NEVER, NEVER let them talk you into coming back "for a few days" to train a new guy!!! Dang near killed me...and ate up all my surfing time....anyway, thanks for all the nice comments...

minor update

Finally got some time to work on the website and do some improvements...we cut way back on the fees, and added a few catagories...might be of some use to someone at some point.
