Advice on spotting scope

Looking for a new spotting scope in the price range around $500. I currently use a 5 year old 1 - 60 80mm Konus but it got moisture or the glass just went bad and the view around the edges is horrible

The scope would be used for mirage reading during F class competition at 600 and 800 and practice at 300. I can spot bullet holes at 200 with my riflescope but if the spotter was clear and powerful enough to spot a .22 cal bullet hole at 300 that would be a bonus.

So far I am looking at the mid range Bushnell, Leupold, Celestron, and Vortex scopes in the 400 - 500 dollar range. Any suggestions are welcome.
