460 Rowland is anyone still supporting it.

Not long ago I ran into the stats of the 460 Rowland which is quite impressive. (44 mag performance in a customized 45 acp) I have already gone about contacting our generous Wild Alaska (on this forum) who is going to build me a kit for my Springfield XD Tactical 5 (45 ACP) which I am purchasing just for this kit.

In the mean time I have found that the J Rowland website hasnt been updated in some time and my attempts at finding out if there is a forum or core group that supports this round exist have gone unanswered.

Wildcat or not I still have to add this to my collection but does anyone know any forums or sites more specific to this round?

Any information would be appreciated... as would any info on where to purchase rounds for it as I dont reload although this maybe the perfect excuse to get into reloading...

Cor-Bon produces factory ammo, you can buy some here. At over $1.50 per shot, you will probably want to reload if you shoot this more than a few boxes a year.

Georgia Arms sells 460 Rowland. $0.61 a round in bulk (plus shipping).

I just bought a bunch of rounds from Georgia Arms yesterday. They only have 230gr hollow points in stock. They said that they are waiting on another shipment of bullets to arrive from Speer.

Starline manufactures the casings, and they have plenty of them in stock. Midway also sells the Starline casings and the Corbon ammo.

I do not know of any forums dedicated to this round but there are a bunch of recipes if you look around.

Because of the short OAL required of the cartridge to fit in a 1911 mag the 460 Rowland has much better performance in a revolver.
In a revolver you can take advantage of the extra length of the case.
Those interested in a 460 conversion for a 1911 might contact Bruce Warren of B C Armory, he was doing some 460 Rowland conversions at one time.
His web site is www.bcarmory.com or you can call him at (269) 729-5508.
Best Regards

I have done it to my S&W M&P45 and it works great .All I did was ream the stock pistols chamber 1/16 and use a new guide rod and heavy recoil spring .Factory mags work no problem .I reload my own rounds and keep the OAL to spec. Recoil is stout ,but manageable .

Check the Clark Custom website.
He makes .460 Roland conversions. His includes a muzzle brake which ,per his site,is critical to making the whole thing work.
I think maybe the gas blast against the brake helps slow the unlocking of the slide.
There may be more to making it hold together than just a deeper chamber and a stronger spring, but check with Clark,I don't know for sure.

I take it the Mr. Rowland got out of supporting this or maybe just got too busy?

Johnny still sells our XD and M&P kits. Clark makes 1911 kits. We have done several revolvers. Corbon makes ammo and Pete Pi is a big fan of the round.

That sounds supported
