Maverick 88 shotgun at Academy

I already have a Maverick 88 for HD, has all the bells and whistles, but was wondering if the deal at Academy for $169.99 for a 28 inch is too good to be true? I'm thinking about getting it for duck hunting with my brother, I won't be doing alot of duck hunting, so don't want to spend alot on a shotgun. Any thoughts?

A good, solid pump 12 gauge for $170 new is a good deal in my book... and in my opinion, that's exactly what a Maverick 88 is... a good, solid 12 gauge pump, whether you think it's pretty or not.

That's the everyday price at Walmart. Nothing special there.

Buy it.

Good price, and since you have a "Serious" Maverick for protection, practice with one is practice with the other.

As the musicians say, same "Chops". Every shot with your sporter builds muscle memory for use with your defensive arm.

I've done the same thing with 870s. After thousands of rounds run through 870s at birds, ground game and evil little clay frisbees, the moves with my HD 870s are instinctive.
