I just picked up a G-17L for a song.

Now, I know it wasn't designed for anything but range work, but I shoot it so well, and it feels so right to me, that now I feel the urge to carry it from time to time. I know most open-toed holsters will serve the purpose, but is anyone aware of any purpose-built holsters for longslide plastic? Thanks.

I don't know of any manufacturer that makes a carry holster for this particular Glock as it has such a long nose, but any custom builder, like Lou Alessi for example, will probably be able to create just what you are looking for.

A cheaper option would be to just go with an open ended model and resign yourself to the fact that your slip is showing.

Since they are open at the muzzle end, the Fobus holsters for the 9 mm Glocks should fit it. If anything, those generic nylon holsters (of the right size) with the open front end should also work. Not very elegant but should be functional. Just keep your gun dry and clean. These, of course, are at the low end. The higher end ones might hold the gun better, wear on your person better, last longer, etc. but being from a state with no CCW, I can't elaborate on those.

Sell it to me and then you won't have that problem!

Blade-Tech will make the holster for free just to have the pattern. The problem is that most 17L's are used just for competition so there is not really a market for carry holsters.

Scott's company makes a G-Code holster for the G17 that is open ended. It would work fine with a G17L.

They are great holsters.

If you decide to carry it in a holster that doesn't fully cover the slide, remember that if you sit in an armchair and the muzzle strikes the arm rest as you sit, the gun could get launched out of the holster. One of those situations that might even be funny...years later.

A Yaqui slide style holster will work since they're nothing more than a thick loop which covers the trigger. It should allow easier withdrawals as well.
